As sad as it appears to be nowadays, yoga, just like fat free diet food,
is in fashion.
The majority of people visiting yoga and pilates classes do it because
it is so "in" and they look oh so cool in those yoga pants on that yoga
mat, telling everybody "I can't - I have yoga". Well, let's not get it
wrong - any kind of social group activity, especially if it gives your
heart a workout and your muscles some oxygen, is a rather good thing.
However, if it is not done improperly or with wrong intentions, it is
better be switched for a different activity - say shopping.
Yoga it is not a set of poses. It is not even a breathing technique or
chakras
sensing skills. True yoga is a lifestyle - it is the way you
think, the way you view the world, then of course it is the way you
exercise, and the way you nourish your body. This brings us to the
concept of yoga food. This concept is also very often misunderstood.
Lots of people are somehow under the impression that it is really
certain foods and dishes; like there are some kind of yoga food
charts. Contrary to this quite naive opinion, there isn't any
yoga food pyramid and yoga diet is not about "what" it is about "how"
and "what for". The process of eating food in yoga teachings is
described as replenishing the human body with essential nutrients. It
is a great discipline that requires a lot of education and discovering. |
